A third-generation family-run business co-owned by Bill Hyde and Scott Hackney, Marenakos is a full-service stone yard and fabrication facility that provides a vital resource to the Seattle landscape and design community. Known for the depth of its product line and its highly skilled installation team, the company supports private, public and corporate projects with its Rock Center in Preston and its Seattle Stonearium.

“The Preston garden is full of wonderful vignettes that are really helpful and inspirational to both design professionals and their clients,” says landscape architect Chip Ragen of Ragen & Associates.

“We deal only in natural stone,” Hackney says, “and we have an eight-and-a-half-acre inventory.” The largest local supplier of basalt and granite, Marenakos brings in stone from all over the country, as well as Canada and Mexico. Its stone-cutters and artisans excel in collaborating with stonemasons, landscape designers, architects and artists, as well as homeowners. Specialties include fireplaces, walls and benches, and they are particularly renowned for their exquisite water features and naturalistic installations of large boulders.
