Home of the Year Deadline Extended to July 20!

We invite homeowners, designers, builders and architects to submit their kitchens for the Seattle Homes & LifestylesKitchen of the Year Award.

Winners will be published in the July/August 2008 issue. Please send pictures as well as a brief written description of the project. Digital images (JPEGs) sent on a CD are preferred, or you can send slides, snapshots or laserprints. We cannot accept projects that have been previously published.

If the project you are submitting is a remodel, also send “before” pictures if any are available.

For each submission, please include the homeowner’s name and those of design professionals involved in the project. If you would like to have your pictures returned, include a self-addressed stamped envelope with adequate postage.

Seattle Homes & Lifestyles 2007 Home of the Year Entry Procedures

Entries must include:

  • A cover letter that briefly describes the home and the homeowners as well as the category being entered: Architecture, Interior Design or Landscape Design. (Homes may be entered in more than one category.)
  • For each category, the letter must include details about all appropriate professionals—architect, interior designer and landscape designer—as well as the home’s location, furnishings and plantings.
  • Color photographs—jpgs on a CD (preferred), color copies, 35mm slides, 2 1/4-inch transparencies or 4-by-5-inch transparencies—of ALL appropriate areas. For architecture, this includes the exterior, kitchen, living area, dining area, master bedroom and bathroom. For interior design, this includes all relevant interior spaces including (but not limited to) the kitchen, living area, dining area, master bedroom and bath. For landscape design, this includes the exterior of the home from multiple angles, as well as all outdoor landscape and hardscape and any additional structures on the property.
  • Photos of other areas of interest (media room, library/study, guest rooms, etc.) Note: Quality of photographs can make a difference in the judges’ decision but professional photographs are not required.
  • The project may not have been published in Seattle Homes & Lifestyles or any other national or regional publication prior to the contest.
  • To be eligible, homes must not be for sale and owners must have no immediate plans to put their home on the market.
  • Owners must give permission for the home to be photographed.

All photographs, slides and transparencies must be clearly labeled with the entrant’s name, address and telephone number, or the materials may not be returned. (Materials will be handled with care; however, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged materials. Please do not send originals.)

Professional photographs must have photo credits.

Entries must be postmarked no later than July 13, 2007.

Each entry must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope, or materials will not be returned.
